All About Nevada Medicare

Learn what you need to know about Medicare in Nevada

Like all other states in the United States, Nevada offers Medicare health insurance plans to those who meet the eligibility criteria. To be eligible to receive Medicare benefits a person must be at least sixty-five years old or must have a disability that prevents them from working. Nevada Medicare consists of four basic plan parts that are labeled Parts A, B, C, and D.

Once it is determined that you are eligible to receive Nevada Medicare, you are automatically enrolled in Part A. This portion of Medicare provides beneficiaries with medical coverage if they were admitted for an inpatient hospital visit. People that decide they would like more medical coverage may opt to participate in the other plan options offered by Medicare, including the following optional plans.

Medicare Part B

Part B provides benefits that cover outpatient hospital visits along with visits to the doctor. Choosing to enroll in Part B requires each member to meet a yearly deductible and the member must pay for twenty percent of each visit.

Medicare Part C in Nevada

Frequently, people that wish to obtain both Parts A and B choose to sign up for and purchase the Medicare Advantage Plan. This plan is also known as Part C, and it often includes additional benefits such as optional dental care, add-on prescription drug coverage, and durable medical equipment.

Medicare Part D in Nevada

Medicare Part D is newer than the previously mentioned plan options. It provides beneficiaries with coverage for prescription drug purchases. Members that choose to purchase this plan are faced with a monthly premium.

Residents of Nevada that do not feel Medicare adequately covers their medical needs may choose to purchase additional insurance coverage. Several insurance companies offer Medicare supplemental policies. These plans provide the consumer with more extensive coverage at an additional cost. It is important to remember that the additional cost of coverage may outweigh the financial loss if you are not fully insured.
